Marriage

Caroline Mitchell (sister of Elizabeth who married Joel Hale) was married before she married Elijah Pine. Aged only 15 with the consent of her mother Jane (nee Caws) and a Thomas Mitchell of Lymington (gent) as her bondsman, Caroline married John-George THOMAS. He was aged 21 (b abt 1791) and a purser on HMS Snap (a sloop captured from the French). It seems the crew were laid off in 1811 but he gives Portsea as his other residence. (Hampshire Marriage Allegances). There is no consent from her father William listed. [AH Email Oct 2010]
